2025 HCPTA Reflections Winners
Please note entries are judged by different judges at each level. Entries will most likely place differently at each level. Starting at the local (school) level, even though placements are announced by your PTA/PTSA, the top five entries are sent to Huntsville Council in no particular order. HCPTA then announces winners by placement, however, the top three (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are sent to Alabama PTA in no particular order. Once Alabama PTA announces state winners in March or April, the 1st place recipient for each division and category are sent to National PTA.
Also of note, interpretation of the theme will carry the most weight in the artwork & Artist Statement throughout all levels of judging.
While creating the slides, background removal was utilized and some edits with typos in artist statements.
For the younger students, some of the precious spellings are maintained as written.

Middle School Division
Kennedy Mason-ASFL-Artist Statement:Accepting imperfections means to accept your flaws and to understand. That your not perfect and nobody i and in my song I used my body as an example of. Accepting my imperfections because, everyone comes in all different shapes, sizes and color nobody is perfect. So when singing, my song instead of listing specific imperfections I have, I just used my body instead as I have my own imperfections and flaws.
Jason Martin-HCMS-Artist Statement:My title, "Ninja in the Night," reflects the theme because ninja were imperfect heroes, but got the job done. Music helps me accept my imperfections by showing me no matter how much I practice, perfection may be out of my reach. My music combines various tunes into a brilliant melody, symbolizing that trying our best is what truly matters. My song aims to help people appreciate this.
Intermediate Division
Nora Ward-Challenger Elem-Artist Statement:The song is powerful because it is about accepting yourself. It reminds you that you can always be yourself.
Ted Williams-HCES-Artist Statement:My piece is titled "It's Okay to Make a Mistake." The inspiration for this piece comes from my every day life. I make different mistakes along the way. I try to not let them upset me, but sometimes it is difficult. When I was writing this piece, I used different time signatures. It tells the listener that things can change quickly and you have to adapt. It also shows that even if you make a mistake, great music can still be made. I will always strive to accept my imperfections and hope my piece inspires others to do the same.
Emilee Brown-GSES-Artist Statement: I know that imperfections do make you strong, and just because you are imperfect, it doesn't mean that you aren't good enough. If you accept your imperfections, it can make you stronger because you can't do everything perfectly, and it really inspires me to use my imperfections not as a weakness, but as a way to learn and grow!
Riya Martin-HCES-Artist Statement:At first I just wanted everything to be perfect, but after my journey through music I realized not everything has to be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. We just have to learn from it and let go. On my first line of music I erased so much, but as I continued I erased less and less. I learned that if you want everything to be perfect then you mess up even more. Accepting imperfections is how you move on.
Primary Division
Keely Stokes-Jones Valley-Artist Statement:My song "Not Perfect" celebrates imperfection by saying it is ok to not be perfect. You can actually mess up by trying to be perfect, so accept your imperfections and just be you.
Sabella M. Silvestre-Challenger Elem-Artist Statement:You will fall, it's okay, you're not perfect, who cares?
